bluesketch studio is a young and personable practice with a drive to produce high quality architecture and design.
We have a passion for working closely with clients to ensure the most appropriate intervention is achieved and the most complex of briefs realised.
Central to our philosophy is the holistic understanding of client, context and quality to produce timeless design.
Andy decided to set up his own practice following many years working for a large multi-disciplinary practice in Cambridge. This is where he honed his interests and developed his own style and architectural language. Following a re-location to Henley-on-Thames, this seemed to be a natural time to go it alone.
Having developed a range of experiences from the education sector, including multi-million pound new schools and refurbishments, office extensions and even some industrial units, he now enjoys a largely residential focus where he can work closely with clients and genuinely influence and improve the space they live and work. This was always the primary passion from day one and the intimacy in space making is his most enjoyable and rewarding aspect.
As a practice that approaches every project holistically, it is important to focus on the site, context and interior finish as well as the architecture itself. As a result we closely collaborate with local and highly creative interior designers who we have worked alongside for a number of years.
Sometimes the interior demand can be passed onto them directly or, more often than not, we shall closely tailor the interior and architectural offering to ensure a crisp and harmonious result.
Following many years and projects within the Berkshire area and further afield such as Cambridge, London and even Norway, we have built up some fantastic relationships with the most professional and friendly builders. As a result we are very well suited to take on a project from start to finish with absolute confidence that things will run smoothly. If however there are challenges along the way which in construction is not infrequent, then we have a collective wealth of experience and expertise to ensure any sized hurdle can be jumped.
Alongside the more obvious personnel required for a construction project there are a number of "behind the scenes" specialists that are fundamental to some schemes. Whilst not required on every project, they are fundamental as and when they are needed and having people you can rely on is critical. These specialists include flood risk assessors, ecology surveyors, party wall surveyors, arborists (tree surveyors), private building control officers and many, many more.
Over the years we have built up fantastic relationships with these professionals and know exactly when to call on them to ensure your project stays on track.
